Rigid-flex PCB design guidelines
Storm Circuit makes a lot of Rigid-flex board, this type of PCB is unlike with normal FR4 PCB.We hope below information can help some designers when he doing the rigid-flex PCB.
Material:FR4+polymide
Stackup:
2 layer rigid flex pcb layer up.
top or bottom flex part, usually, flex part is 0.1mm,rigid part can be 0.8-1.6mm

3 layer rigid flex pcb layer up
the flex part is in the middle, Layer 2 and 0.1mm.
the flex part is in the middle, Layer 2 and 0.1mm.
4 layer rigid flex pcb layer up
the flex part is usually in the middle too. L2 or L3 Layer, or both layers are flex part. if two layer of flex, it is 0.2mm

6 layer rigid flex pcb layer up
the flex part can be middle layers, but also out layers are OK . it depends on your design. 0.1-0.2mm thickness.
below is just a type of we made .

8 layer HDI Blind and buried via rigid flex pcb layer up
General speaking, Rigid-flex PCB is much complex than normal FR4 Circuits. they have different process, flex parts can be in top or inner layers. also ,there is air gap or not in the flex part. so ,rigid-flex PCB only can be custom quote.
